Meet Nick Clift
What is my background?
I started as a technician at Unisys, fixing things and staying one step ahead of whatever broke next.
In 2002, I founded DWM Solutions. We started with the old break-fix model, but I quickly realised that waiting for things to break was a dead end. We became early adopters of the MSP model and never looked back.
Over twenty years, we grew to 28 staff across four locations. Along the way, I started six businesses, acquired two, and eventually merged to form Otto IT before exiting completely in 2022.
I have made plenty of mistakes and learned many lessons the expensive way. Now, I use that experience to help other MSP owners shortcut their own path to growth.
What is your coaching style?
I am naturally curious, so I ask a lot of questions. Some of them might be uncomfortable.
Most MSP owners are so busy fighting fires that they don't have the space to think. My role is to be an experienced sounding board, helping you see your business from a different angle.
I am not here to give you a rehearsed speech. I am here to help you and your team think more clearly and lead with more confidence.
Systems and processes? Is that just documentation?
It is about clarity, not just folders of paperwork.
I help you build a business that stops depending on people remembering the right thing at the right time. We focus on meeting rhythms that drive decisions and clear accountability for who owns what.
When I did this in my own business, it changed everything. The team could move forward without me checking in on every detail. It made the business easier to run and significantly more valuable.
Why talk about exit experience?
Because a business someone wants to buy is a business that is actually fun to own.
Whether you want to sell next year or keep the business forever, you need a team that can function without you.
Building toward a possible exit gives you options. It might mean a successful sale, or it might just mean a two week holiday where you actually turn your phone off. Both are wins.
What is the MSP Mastery podcast?
It is where we have the "real" conversations about running an MSP.
No conference stage polish here. We talk about leadership, people, and the mistakes we've made along the way. It is honest, practical, and focuses on what actually works in the real world.
Can I speak to your clients?
Yes. Trust is everything when you bring someone into your leadership team.
I am happy to provide references or share stories of the challenges we have tackled together.
Still have a question?
Most good conversations do not fit on an FAQ page.
If you are curious about how we might work together, let's just have a chat. We can look at your challenges and see where the conversation goes.
